Tales of Thorang La: The Epic Annapurna Circuit Trek

Upon arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore the vibrant streets of Kathmandu. Wander through Thamel, a bustling tourist hub known for its shops, restaurants, and lively atmosphere.

Spend the day in Kathmandu preparing for your upcoming trek. In the morning, attend an introduction program to meet your guide, company staff, and fellow travelers, and receive essential trek information. Use the rest of the day to organize your gear and gadgets, with assistance available for purchasing or renting any necessary equipment. Enjoy a relaxing evening exploring Kathmandu's cultural sites before the adventure begins.

Starting early in the morning, a public bus will transport you from Kathmandu to Bhulbhule via Besisahar. From there, you'll switch to a shared jeep and continue to your destination for the day, Dharapani. Along the way, you'll be mesmerized by stunning waterfalls, snow-capped peaks, and several suspension bridges, all part of your Annapurna Circuit Trek adventure. Following the Marsyangdi River, you'll pass through charming villages like Ngadi, Bahundanda, Syange, Jagat, Chamje, and Tal before reaching Dharapani.

Starting from Dharapani, trekkers pass through lush forests, waterfalls, and villages adorned with prayer flags. The trail ascends, offering panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and terraced mountainsides.

A highlight of this trek is the shift from the subtropical climate of lower altitudes to the cooler alpine environment near Chame. Along the way, trekkers pass through picturesque Gurung and Manangi villages, experiencing their traditional lifestyle and warm hospitality.

As you near Chame, the landscape becomes rugged, with towering cliffs and the roaring Marsyangdi River. Chame, the capital of Manang, welcomes trekkers with bustling markets, a Tibetan Buddhist monastery, and views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal.

Starting from Chame, trekkers are welcomed by breathtaking mountain views as the trail winds through lush forests, revealing snow-capped peaks and verdant valleys. As you climb higher, the air cools and the landscape shifts into a surreal scene of towering mountains and alpine meadows.

Reaching Pisang, you’re rewarded with awe-inspiring views of Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. This tranquil high-altitude village is the perfect retreat for adventurers, offering a chance to explore ancient monasteries, connect with friendly locals, or simply bask in the serene Himalayan beauty.

Begin your descent to reconnect with the Annapurna Circuit trail, leading you toward the stunning Manang Valley. For most of the trek, you’ll follow the riverbeds, surrounded by the majestic mountain scenery that defines the region. After 5 to 6 hours of exhilarating trekking, the Manang Valley comes into view. Nestled in the heart of the Marsyandi River Valley, Manang greets you with serene Himalayan landscapes and a rich tapestry of culture, tradition, and history unique to this region.

Manang offers a perfect mix of spiritual solace and adventure. Visit the ancient Gangapurna Lake and Monastery for panoramic views of surrounding peaks like Mt. Gangapurna and Annapurna. For a more active day, hike to Praken Gompa or Ice Lake, where trails reveal stunning vistas of Chulu Peak, Tilicho, and Annapurna III.

If you prefer a leisurely pace, relax in local teahouses, savor traditional Sherpa cuisine, and engage in warm conversations with fellow travelers. This rest day not only aids acclimatization but also deepens your connection with the Himalayan landscape and its people.

Leaving behind the charming Manang Valley with its Tibetan-style architecture and monasteries, your journey takes you towards Yak Kharka. The trek begins with a steady ascent through diverse landscapes, offering breathtaking views of Annapurna and Gangapurna. As you gradually climb, you’ll traverse alpine terrains, forested areas, and lush Himalayan vegetation.

Upon reaching Yak Kharka, a high-altitude grazing land surrounded by alpine meadows, you’ll encounter small settlements where you can gain insights into the local culture and the unique lifestyle of the residents who call this remote area home.
